"Wobbles the Mind" (wobblesthemind)

The combination of the bold side scallop, dip in the shoulder line after the A-pillar followed by rapid ascension, and the taper of the greenhouse causes the illusion of the door handles being offset. Focus on the space inbetween the handles. Keep the side of the device closest to the rear of the vehicle stationary. Now, push the side of the device closet to the front of the vehicle away from you. Eureka!
Here, use the picture below now. Same technique, so the side of device closest to the rear of the vehicle will stay stationary while you push the side of the device nearest the front of the vehicle away from you. You can also look at the same spot while pivoting the top or bottom of your device closer to you. As the device approaches 90 degrees you’ll notice the door handles will reveal themselves to be inline.
Make sure you go back up to the blue Charger and notice that the inverse of the directions you use on the red Charger create the same revelations.
Go ahead and play around with the two images, I’ll wait a minute since it messed me up too!
....
Do you see it now?! The handles are actually inline and it’s a side effect of the contrasting design lines in conjunction with the broadsidedness of the vehicle making it seem as if the rear handles sit above the front door handles!
You’re welcome, kin!
Nah, I’m just playing around with you. That shit’s uneven as fuck!!

And now it’s one of the most irritating design cues on the Charger.

I like uneven door handles, but really only if they’re hidden somewhere near the D/C-pillar.

Slightly unrelated, but the door handles on the new Honda Accord are at different angles and it pisses me off.

The one I had was painfully slow, but it was a 1.2L and there are probably bigger engines on offer. But the interior was super cheap and chintzy, the ride was choppy, the seats were uncomfortable and there was no space at all. Steering was vague, though it did handle OK. Everything about it was incredibly thin. My wife and I were having a benign conversation in it at a red light at a normal talking level and a bunch of Germans on bikes next to us heard it well enough to point and go “Americans!” The clutch and shifter were decent, probably a virtue of having no torque.

Colleague at work just bought herself a 2015 Clio in the same colour as the one above and loves it. She’s had a couple or so Clios and loves this one the most so far.

The Juke also has a hidden handle. That Sonic you pictured looks like the one I use to own, but mine had fog lights.

Don’t forget Alfa-Romeo! They know how to do hidden rear door-handles.

The Sonic’s rear doors are so well designed that they always seem at first glance like a small 3-door hatch and I have a particular soft spot for them - for that reason alone.
Yes, I live in the US and envy Europeans and their 3-door hatches - whether or not they are good, at least there is a nice selection. And as you could have guessed, I drive a Mini (Cooper S (R53 (not the new 5 door jokes)).

Doesn't paint a pretty picture.
